EVENTS - Delving in Dereham

Dereham weekend : Discovering how to Delve
14-15 April 2007

Following on the success of previous weekends together, we decided to hold a weekend in Dereham. During the weekend we delved into 1940s recipes and decided to test them out. They were delicious; we also practiced using our new interviewing equipment, and then went and visited Marjery Warburg, who became a Guide in 1937 in Norwich. Her story was fascinating - hearing about meeting evacuees in Norwich off the London train, and helping them en route to their new homes in villages. Some were short of clothing, so the Guides helped to find more for them.

We took some photos of local places of interest to add to the website, wrote letters to the Queen and our President, Sophie Wessex and on Sunday afternoon made our way along to the Selection afternoon at Gressenhall, carrying our Bible Cake with us to share with everyone!
