Welcome to Girlguiding Norfolk's Heritage Project on-line. Whether you are a member of Girlguiding or not, we hope you find the site of interest.
Aren't the Heritage posters produced for the Centenary by CHQ excellent!? We think they are great and have a huge amount of information contained in them.
We have written quizzes - according to the age groups - so people really do have a good look at them, and find out some amazing information for themselves.
You can access the quizzes here.

If you do download our quizzes and use them, it would be wonderful if you wouldn't mind making a donation to our fundraising - see details below of what for - to Girlguiding Norfolk, County Office, Eaton Vale, Church Lane, Eaton, Norwich NR4 6NN mentioning that it is in respect of quizzes and for the ARC.
But what is the ARC? Well because we have such a marvellous collection of archives, uniforms and badge collection, one of the best in
the country, we are building the ARC - Archive Resource Centre. It is to be purpose built and will house our things in the best environment to keep them safe from bugs and beetles so they will be there to be shared with members of the Movement throughout our next century.
So we are about to launch a big fund-raising campaign and these quizzes will hopefully raise some money towards our project.
If you have heard about our 1940s camps and want to know more... follow the links below.
One of the girls has done us all proud, as well as herself. Look at her wonderful video diary, enjoy and get a feel of what it was like those fabulous ten days in August 2007.
Have you looked at the girls' own page on Bebo yet? http://www.bebo.com/1940swonders
Girlguiding Norfolk is part of Girlguiding UK, the UK's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women. The organisation is part of a worldwide Movement that enables girls and young women, whatever their background or ability, to realise their full potential and take an active and responsible role in today's society. This is achieved through a distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities provided by 68,000 trained adult volunteer Leaders.
In Norfolk, we have just under 8500 members, including around 1000 trained adult volunteers who give their time to make guiding happen for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers - that's the equivalent of 100 fulltime jobs!
We also have more than 700 girls on our waiting-to-join list - girls who would be eligible to join if more leaders could be found.
Rainbows join the guiding family at the age of five and their activity programme, the Rainbow Jigsaw, has four areas - Look, Learn, Laugh and Love. Brownies are a busy bunch, aged 7-10, whose Brownie Adventure gets them involved in lots of different things. The Guide section is for girls aged 10-14 and they are encouraged to Go For It! with a whole range of exciting challenges and activities, while the Senior Section covers the age range 14-25 and includes Rangers, Young Leaders and young adult leaders.
Girlguiding Norfolk has its own activity centre, Patteson Lodge, at Great Hautbois, near Coltishall in Norfolk, which celebrates its 25th birthday in 2007. Nearby is Great Hautbois House, the Girlguiding Anglia regional training and activity centre. The house and estate were left to Anglia Guides in 1984 by the two Patteson sisters, Phillippa and Beth, who had a long and active association with the movement.
